An Outpouring of Lava and Love

Aloha from vog city, busy bees! Over here in Kona we have been watching as Pele demonstrates her incredible power in Puna on the Big Island’s east side. Our hearts go out to all the families that have been displaced and lost homes. Even more incredible is the amazing response of love by people near and far - donating time, money, and supplies to those affected.
If you are wanting to send some love, we recommend getting in touch with Pu’uhonua o Puna - a grassroots community organization that is leading the response to the day to day needs of those displaced by the eruptions. Visit their Facebook page for more information about signing up to volunteer, what donations they need most, and how to make a monetary donation straight to their bank account at Bank of Hawaii or via their Go Fund Me page.
Last month we decided to respond in the best way we knew how - by trying to spread a little peace comfort and joy by sending over 60 lbs of the sweetest stuff on earth - fresh honey from Jacobs Ladder Honey. A big shout out to our friend Kelly Shaw who helped deliver the goods to Pu’uhonua o Puna, and continues to drive over donations. Thank you!
Taylor, Selvy's granddaughter at her school.
When Selvy Thiruvengadam’s granddaughters Taylor and Macaela heard about the eruptions, they wanted to do something. Taylor enlisted the help of her kindergarten class at White Bluffs Elementary in Richland, Washington in collecting art supplies and making beautiful cards to send to children in Puna. Local Philanthro-bees from Arc of Kona then created thank you cards to send to the Kindergarten class.
Mystic Bee Sanctuary is currently collecting donations of art supplies for children and adults. All donations will go to Pu’uhonua o Puna to help spread some peace, comfort, and joy through the magical and healing powers of art. If you have art supplies you would like to donate, bee-mail Selvy at mysticbeemail@gmail.com.
Much love and Aloha to all those philanthro-bees near and far who are lending a hand to those affected by the lava.
May peace bee with you!
